Re: Game Thread: Aces at Xavier

Looks like the dam finally broke. This opponent is just too big and physical for us. Too much disadvantage on the boards. Too many second-chance points. And we've finally come back to Earth a little bit when in comes to shooting 3s. I really hope we don't end up losing by 15 and feel awful about the...

Re: Game Thread: Aces at Xavier

I don't care how this game ends. These kids have shown incredible heart fighting back like this. We got our ass handed to us at Illinois two days ago. 15 down in the first half here in a tough environment. They could have rolled over, taken another beating and headed home. I love to see the Aces scr...

Re: Game Thread: Aces at Xavier

Wow. Great ball movement on that 3 to put us ahead.

Re: Game Thread: Aces at Xavier

Our 3-pointers are the only thing keeping us in this game, so let's hope we don't go cold. These kids play hard, but they're just so overmatched physically against teams like this -- especially on the boards. They'll all certainly sleep well tonight after a Thursday night game followed by a Saturday...

Re: Illinois - Nov 8th Scouting report

This was brutal tonight, and it might be equally brutal at Xavier on Saturday. But Walter is starting from zero here. As I've posted before, I really don't care about the record this season -- I care about building a foundation for future success that Simmons never even tried to build in the first p...

Re: 2018 Team

I don't care much about next year's record. What I care about most is laying the right foundation. An improved schedule. A more up-tempo style of play that will challenge the opposition. Bigger crowds at the FC and more enthusiasm -- regionally -- for the program. Recruits that can truly make an imp...

Re: UE radio joines Learfield

I like this hire. Call me crazy, but it looks like the University is going to try and build an actual program. And it's so great to see the enthusiasm from the community and alumni (myself included). And I'm glad they're no longer afraid to raise expectations, which is something we haven't seen in s...

Re: Schedule 2019-20

It might take a couple of years to get things turned over, but I am such a huge fan of having fewer (ideally zero) D-2 games and putting an emphasis on regional teams for our non-conference slate. In the last few years, it feels like the idea has simply been "Whatever schedule gets us to 20 win...

Re: UE radio joines Learfield

A few days before Simmons was fired, I was on here predicting that the University's apathy toward the complete stagnation of the basketball program was a clear indicator that they were simply giving up, and we were headed to DII or DIII status in the next five years. I was wrong, and I'm thrilled to...

Re: Scheduling

I remember back in the late 80s and early 90s where IU, Notre Dame, Kentucky and Louisville would play the Big Four Classic in the old Hoosier Dome. So you might have IU vs Kentucky in the first game and Notre Dame vs Louisville in the second game. Does anyone else think that a mini version of this ...
