5-star players are typically one or two n done's. 4-star players are more likely to develop into stars over a season or two. 3-star players are reliable guys that are large pickups for a program like ours, but they are more of an average player elsewhere. 2-star guys are either under-recruited (if they go to a small school) or do not present much upside in the minds of the national recruiting rankings. 1-star players are typically worse than unranked players because they HAVE been evaluated more and there is not much promise at the D1 level. They would be a big pick of for USI most likely.

I believe the star system is more for the fans than the coaches. There are great programs that have 2 star players who were superb. I think coachs look at a players ability to play their system.

I see where Thomasi's brother Shea was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder today as part of the Los Angeles Clippers wheeling and dealing to get Kawhi Leonard. Evidently Kawhi told the Clippers that he would join their team (via free agency) if they traded for Paul George (of the Thunder).
