FBI NCAA Corruption Arrests - Bruce Pearl/Chuck Person(Auburn)

Postby klinky » Tue Sep 26, 2017 11:11 am

Looks like a Bruce Pearl coached team is in hot water again. Auburn assistant coach Chuck Person has been arrested. It's no wonder why some colleges recruit better than others. Not all schools are playing by the same rules.

"The FBI has arrested several NCAA assistant basketball coaches in a corruption scheme.
As of now, Chuck Person (Auburn), Lamont Evans (Oklahoma State), Emanuel Richardson (Arizona) and Tony Bland (USC) have been charged.

It will be interesting to hear the name of the Kentucky school implicated:

"The men agreed to pay $100,000 to the family of one recruit and $150,000 to the family of another recruit, the complaint alleges. The schools were not named, though one was described as “a public research university located in Kentucky” with approximately 22,640 students"

According to Wikipedia the University of Louisville's enrollment is:

Students 22,640 (Fall 2016)[2]
Undergraduates 16,033 (Fall 2016)[2]
Postgraduates 5,963 (Fall 2016)[2]
Location Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.

Gosh, do you think they might be talking about Louisville? I'll bet if you looked into their football program you would find the same thing.

But they didn't say the coach likes to frequent Italian restaurants, fondling women.... so it may not be Louisville.

Maybe we can finally get Bruce Pearl and Rick Pitino out of college basketball. I certainly do not want to hear that they had no idea what the assistant coaches were doing. That was a joke in the last UL scandal, and it would be a joke now.

Auburn associate head coach Chuck Person among 10 facing corruption charges

"In six counts, Person faces charges for bribery conspiracy, solicitation of bribes and gratuities, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and travel act conspiracy."

"In one instance, the complaint said, Gatto and others funneled $100,000 to the family of a high school basketball player to gain his commitment to play at a Division I school whose athletic programs are sponsored by Adidas"

Pat Forde calling for the "Death Penalty" for the Louisville program:

"Every basketball program in America is running scared right now, because this is how business gets done. A lot of people knew it, but nobody was able to lay it out with proof like the feds did on Tuesday. It’s a dirty sport, and today we know how dirty.

The damage to it will be immense and long-lasting. The NCAA will have a hard fight to make anyone believe in its bread-winner sport again. Which is why the first order of business needs to be blasting Louisville basketball into non-existence.

Shut it down."

Honestly, I wonder how many teams this is going to hit once all of the details come out. Seems like this runs pretty deep.

The NCAA won't touch the big boys (see UNC). Non P-5 teams should defect, they're fighting an uphill battle.
