Aces @ the Braves

Postby 6th man » Fri Jan 19, 2018 10:36 pm

Braves are favored by 4.5 point over the Aces. Could be a winnable game if the everyone participates, hit free throws, and play defense.

Taylor, UE look to bounce back for regular-season series win at Bradley

http://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/college/evansville/2018/01/19/taylor-ue-look-bounce-back-regular-season-series-win-bradley/1048983001/

When UE coach Marty Simmons and his staff showed their players Wednesday’s film, they noted the difference in how much more successful the Sycamores were in setting screens. It’s a chain reaction. If Taylor’s defender gets bodied, then that should create opportunities for the rest of the team. Since Taylor leads the country in taking 38.7 percent of his team's shots while on the floor, he draws a lot of attention with more than one defender on him.

Men’s basketball embarks on road trip to Bradley

http://www.gopurpleaces.com/news/2018/1/19/mens-basketball-embarks-on-road-trip-to-bradley.aspx

Simmons enters Saturday's game with 992 career points, just 8 shy of 1,000...Smith is on an absolute roll, posting 15.2 points per game in his six league games...Smith is 19th in the nation with 2.31 steals per game and is 67th in the NCAA with 5.0 assists...Taylor ... retook the MVC scoring lead with his average of 20.4 points per game. With 35.9 minutes per game, Taylor paces the league while his free throw efforts of 87.5% on the season are second...Bradley is looking to right the ship as they have dropped three of their last four games...The Braves have been great at home this season, winning all nine games at Carver Arena.

Bradley fans are fortunate, as they get to go to a Saturday night home game. What a novel idea! It used to be so much fun going to Aces games on Saturday night. Saturday afternoon games can be fun too, but it's just not the same. At least we have our memories. :)
Now for tonight's game- Bradley has been up and down in MVC play too. They are unbeaten at home, but like UE, winless in Valley road games. The Aces embarrassed the Braves here a couple weeks ago, but this should be a much more difficult game to win.

I think everyone on this board hopes for just a few things:

1- Play hard and focused for 40 minutes
2- Play smart for 40 minutes
3- Be consistent for 40 minutes
4- Make adjustments needed to succeed
and 5- Put the best 5 players on the floor during the appropriate time

Go Aces!!!
Just my opinion...I could be wrong!

Have you noticed that posters on all the other MVC team forums limit their comments from a few words to a couple of sentences. Then there is our site where less than a paragraph is uncommon. Just an observation.

“It’s a bad year to be average,” ISU coach Dan Muller said. “You can be average and finish ninth.”

To Bradley fans starved for the just rewards of their team’s improvement, that would be a kick in the teeth.

The strange truth is that the Valley is a better league this season than it was last, despite the departure of national powerhouse Wichita State. That’s because of 351 Division I teams, all 10 MVC members are ranked 160 or better on the RPI — something that only the Big 12 and SEC can claim. There are no bad Valley teams.

But there are a lot of average ones.

In watching the MISS ST at DRAKE game this afternoon on FSM, they said for first time in years all ten teams are in top 150. Only one other conference can say the same. (BIG 12)

I saw earlier that The Trees BLEW AWAY the Redbirds at home by 30 points. The win at The Ford proved to be pivotal for them. Again, there is no surprise which team will win the conference, it's going to come down to who stays healthy and which team can pull off a few road wins. Every team is pretty tough at home except for maybe our team who has lost a couple Valley games at home already.

As to the comment earlier about us fans sending in long posts on this site, I plead guilty. This is my only chance in life to pretend I am a writer. :)
