By the way, and I'm not advocating we go back to these times, but Aces home games for many years started at 8:00 pm. I remember a few years ago, there was an 8 pm game, and a lot of comments about the "late" start. When the Aces hosted their annual holiday tournament between Christmas and New Year's, the Aces played the second game at 9:00 on the first night, and if they won, 9:00 again on the second night.
It was the season after the plane crash that the start of home games was moved up to 7:35. Years later, they were moved to 7:00.
There were times last decade when we because of my sons' sports after school, that we either barely got there at 7:00, or didn't go because we didn't have enough time.
There would probably be a mild uproar among the locals if the weeknight games were played later than 7 pm.

Aceschamp appears to be correct about not playing day games in earlier years. The schedule from 82-83 had exactly TWO day games, and both were away. download/file.php?mode=view&id=105

I certainly didn't care for the 8pm start on a weeknight.

With local schools starting class at 7:30am, most families probably prefer 7:00 weeknight tipoffs. The school bus comes through my neighborhood at 6:40 am, so the kids have to be up by 6:15, or earlier, to catch the bus. Walking out of the Ford Center at 10:10pm is not conducive to that.

I assume the EVSC administrators in decades gone by had observed teenagers enough to start class well after 7:30am.

Back in the 90's we very rarely played afternoon games.
I heard that the conference has a big part on what time our games are played on weekends
Also,I don't seem to believe the MVC has many games on Fox, if any at all

I am sure there are many reasons for the Aces not playing Saturday night games. I think as Tom posted earlier, we need a good mix. You can't make everyone happy no matter what you do. I would think other Valley teams would also like Saturday night games in hope of higher attendance and maybe less conflicts that come up during the day like those mentioned previously. However, on the pre conference games there is no reason we cannot have more Saturday night games given the fact we play those cards.

So, have a couple Saturday afternoon games, handful of Saturday night games and others 7pm start weeknights. If it's a must to have a weekend afternoon game, maybe throw in a Sunday game or two to help those who have kids in sports on Saturday afternoons. Hard to go much later than 7:15 or so on a school night and with the older crowd, late is not better. I am not a fan of 8pm or later starts for any games. As many times as the refs blow the whistle we may not get home until midnight if you have a close game, lots of fouls, maybe an OT or delay due to the shot or game clock going out of commission which we have seen enough of.

Does anyone know anything definitive on Boo or Soloman? Like Marty...are they done for the year?
Just my opinion...I could be wrong!

This is what the Aces need on their campus.

Looking at that schedule from 82 makes me so sad. Look at those teams we used to play and now we're in front of 2,000 fans playing South Alabama A&M...

Park at the Ford Center and take a bus to the corner of Walnut & Weinbach.
