This game has trap written all over it. We question Marty's ability to motivate, Dru is out, and it looks like weather will negatively impact what would have been a mediocre gate to begin with. Glancing at the Valpo board, most of them are confident in getting a win as well. Hoping I am wrong and we lay a 30 point beating on them. Let's give the ones who brave the weather a good show.

No reason why we shouldn’t win this game just loss by 4 at Illinois State Dru or no Dru we should when this game don’t think it would be 30 though we just don’t have that killer instinct but expect our guys to step up again go big or go home.

UE favorite by 3.5 points.

Win on the road by 10 , play at home, favored by 3.5 Dru Smith out factor.

I think we beat them but not a beat down. 3.5 points seems like a small spread at home, DRU factor is the difference I would guess. Hopefully by game time roads will have been cleared off.

I think this will be the most winnable game the rest of the season....we have to have it to have a snowball's chance of avoiding Thursday night.

Get well soon Dru!

Yesterday was the MVC coaches conference call. Marty said Dru was seeing the doctor (yesterday) and hinted he may not be out as long as expected. At least that is what I took away from the conversation.

In my opinion this would be the worst loss of the season, if we don't win it. We are a better team than Valpo, even without Dru. We have been very good defensively at home, and I don't expect that to change tonight, if we want to have a snowball's chance to escape Thursday.

The Aces haven't lost to Valpo at home since 1969.
Freshmen were ineligible then, or the Aces likely would have won that one, with Buse, Coffey and the Whale on the freshman team. Granted, after the early 90s, they have only played here twice, once in the SMerfeld days, and again 4 years ago. But they played here many times before that, and I believe UE has won something like 20 straight over them here.
Playing every year again, that streak is bound to end eventually, but let's let keep it going another year.
Beat the Crusaders, then go get at least one win on the upcoming road trip.

Would certainly hope that the Aces will pick up the defense as this game goes on. They need to pick up the defense, especially guarding the three. I expect they will in the second half.

Valpo leads 32-31 at the half. Aces played a very uninspired first half. Nothing much but looking for Taylor on offense, and stood around watching Valpo hit threes on defense. Will have to pick it up in the second half, or this will be a terrible loss.
