When is the last time you saw "Evansville's Strong Schedule"?

There doesn't seem to be ANY NEWS about the "Maui Mainland" tourney to be held at Ford in mid-Nov. No news from SDSU, ISU, Gonzaga, or Auburn. Arizona, Duke, UofI, and X are set on their non-conf.

Does anyone have insight about who we are going to have here, other than Chaminade? Or at least when we might know?
Tks-

I don't have any information on this but sounds like a great grab bag question for Pat Hickey or even a question for Walter at the next caravan tour stop in Owensboro on August 30th.

Thanks for the info. When I heard it was Thanksgiving weekend my first thought was the battle for Atlantis. It will still be a good tourney for us.

Do we know for sure it is the Bahama Showcase tournament?
I'm curious how much a trip like this would cost for a fan. Looks like rooms for the Bahama Showcase are on the order of $300-$350 (for a family of four). And an tournament all session pass is only $40 per person.
Flights as low as $370 from Austin. ($560 from Evansville.)

Maui Mainland tourney Nov. 16-18 remains a mystery. Just today, Iowa St. released their non-conf. sched., and they play at home vs. Alabama St. 11/6 and Tx. Southern on 11/12. Both were among the very few teams uncommitted to a holiday tourney, so either one, or both, could be the 2 TBA teams to join Chaminade and UE. Guess we'll see. While I'm not thrilled about having 2 SWAC teams in, we can't be too choosy at this point, and Tx. Southern could be a pretty good team this year. Maybe only one of them comes, to be joined by a 4th team from another conference (like Western Il. or Omaha?)

Texas Southern is also scheduled to play San Diego St., also a Maui team, on Nor. 14

I think either someone posted or confirmed before that Simmons was who got us in this tourney, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised to have two SWAC schools come to the FC.

I really hope going forward we are never in a tournament like this again.
8-19 .....1986
16-12 ....1987 --- MCC Champ
21-8 .....1988 --- NIT
25-6 .....1989 --- NCAA
Key point, be patient, never judge a coach on Year 1!

Most likely yes.
At the same time these smaller MTEs are a crap shoot. The organizers might be able to put together a reasonable slate of mid-major teams, or they might not. It looks like Walter has a decent tournament for next year, but you never really know until the teams are fully announced.

Exactly right. Last 3 years our MTE's have been a mixture of good and bad. I know the RPI is dead or whatever but here are the RPIs of our opponents the last 3 years:

2015-16 - Anaheim Wooden 3 games vs. RPI 32, 249, 65
2016-17 - Nashville 3 games vs RPI 164, 33, 34
2017-18 - First 2 Home, Last 2 Hard Rock Riviera vs RPI 255, 320, 103, 192

I would say this year looks to be shaping up like last year. Two dreadful home games in exchange for playing two big games (Xavier RPI 4 and Illinois RPI 179 last year in a rebuild) away.
