MVC Twitter posted quite a few pictures. I don't know about a local reporter being there.

Highlights from the article:

Wednesday also was the Missouri Valley Conference Media Day, which (Walter) attended along with players Marty Hill and Shea Feehan. The official preseason MVC poll wasn’t released, but one national poll, Street & Smith, has already predicted the Aces to finish last.

“I think we’ll be much further along than people think we are when it’s all said and done,” McCarty told the smattering of season ticket holders. “We have tremendous talent here and you’re going to be happy when you see these guys play. We have enough to get it done.

“We’re not preparing to finish in last place. Our goal is to get to the (NCAA) tournament now.” ...

The Aces are going to play fast and shoot a high number of 3-pointers. All of them attempt 400-500 per day and they’ll all have the green light to shoot if they find themselves open during a game...

“We want to be the hardest-playing, most physical and the most commanding team in the country,” McCarty said. “We’re going to move the ball up the court, and if you’re open behind the 3-point-line, let it go.”...

How is the personnel adapting to this run-and-gun scheme?

McCarty said fans will be “shocked at how (Marty Hill) attacks the paint” and Feehan will be a fan favorite because “he’s crafty and when you give him space, he’s knocking it down." He added that returners Danius Chatkevicius is a “big brute” and Noah Frederking lost 15 pounds to resemble a “totally different player than what film shows.”

“Our guys are hungry and ready to get started, McCarty said. “We’re almost there.”

I love the attitude and enthusiasm that Coach McCarty has.
Fans of ALL the other MVC schools are expecting the Aces to finish last. I would love to see the Aces silence all the naysayers with a great season.

And arguably the best part of the article:

...and practices begin at the end of next week.

A great article on Walter and the renewed interest in the men's basketball team in the online UE Magazine:

Some other great articles as well, including the new UE president and his family.

Agree.
Or, for those that want to continue that discussion, move it to "THE VALLEY" section....
