This has to be the biggest transfer since Scott Haffner.

Dare I say it? Or Marty Simmons?

Marty Simmons was an excellent player, just not a good head coach.

Wonder if Jawaun, will give up his #3 roster jersey?

Maybe the number isn’t as important to Jawaun as it is to Sam. Otherwise, the number is already taken.

It's interesting reading the other fans opinions on this.

The fans of a true blueblood, Kansas...the ones he transferred from, are nearly 100% supportive, wishing him the best, and stating their new interest in supporting the Purple Aces.

The Xavier board, however, is in a meltdown. Most are taking the "we didn't want him anyway" route. A few are suggesting that a "less desirable school" clearly means that X woudn't commit the minutes to him that we did.

What none of these P5 wannabes understand, or will admit, is the gap isn't as wide as they want to believe. Steele and McCarty are both new coaches, however, it is McCarty who has a deeper bench of assistants, and probably more important, key connections in the NBA. The Big East is indeed a stronger conference, but the Valley is typically a top 10, and as Wichita and Loyola have recently shown, it is very possible to get national relevance from here. Both schools can give a good education, both have great arenas and can generate decent crowds.

It seems Creighton, Butler and Xavier fans have quickly forgotten that any national relevance they achieved, came while they were members of so-called mid-major conferences. They weren't shocked when they landed good recruits while playing in the MVC, Horizon or A-10.

My only disappointment in all of this is Cunliffe won't be lacing up against them in November.
