Hoopfest scheduled for October 17

Hoopfest presented by Heritage Federal Credit Union makes its return in 2018! It will take place on Wednesday, October 17 at the Ford Center.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with the event starting at 6 p.m. The first 350 fans will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Heritage Federal Credit Union. As always, admission is free and tickets are NOT needed for entry.

Hoopfest is your first opportunity to see the Purple Aces men's and women's basketball teams. It features intrasquad scrimmages, special contests between players, autographs following the festivities and much more.

This will also mark the first chance for season ticket holders to pick up their tickets for the 2018-19 season.

A little over a month away - wish I could be there. I hope they televise it for those of us too far away to make it in person.

Great!!!! Glad to see it back at the Ford Center. I would think it would be the best attended Hoopfest ever.

To be clear, that is 350 wearable bank advertisements. I haven't hurried for one of those since I saw the first one decades ago. When they hurl one into the crowd, I duck.

I like free T-shirts.
I have HOOPFEST shirts, going back to as far as I can remember
Wear them to the beach all the time.
I cut the sleeves off and the neck out, turning them into the clothing staple here on the Red Neck Riviera, known as "The Wife Beater"

I heard from a very reliable source that they will NOT be videotaping the HoopFest event (like last year). That is because opposing teams were using it as a scouting tool and were getting a couple of sets off the posted videos.

So I am going to rely on y'all for my scouting report (or drive 1,850 miles round trip).

5 days till Hoopfest - this is the time that all of us have been waiting for; obviously the events of the last week have put a bit of a damper on the party for this year but the future is bright and the guys this year will need our support.

Any speculation on what the two teams will look like and who the stars will be?

I'm thinking that Sam, Art and DeAndre will be on one team with four other players; and the 'A' team will have a rotation of 7 players more likely to start. I think John Hall, DC and Shea will most likely be on this team.

Just a wild guess but maybe the teams shake out like this:

Team A............... Team B
---------................--------
John Hall..............Sam Cunliffe
Noah F.................Art Labinowicz
Dainius C..............DeAndre Williams
Evan Kuhlman........Will Becker
Shea Feehan..........Shamar Givance
Marty Hill.............Jawuan Newton
KJ Riley................Devan Straub

Note: I think the guards like Noah, KJ, Marty, or Jawuan and big men Evan and Will could end up on either team.
If the big 3 (Sam, DeAndre and Art) end up on Team B, Team A better be stacked with the "best of the rest" to have a competitive contest.

Thoughts?

I have no idea how Walter will separate the two teams, but I'm really looking forward to Wednesday night. Anxious (for next year) to see what Cunliffe, Labinowicz, and Williams can do. For this year I'm hopeful to see Noah and Shea Feehan shoot with confidence and anticipating significant contributions from Kuhlman and Hall, now that they're healthy. It should be a fun team to watch, even with the bad news from the NCAA.
