Ladies and Gentlemen.....simply put....this is a good ol fashioned....well, you get the rest. However, I am surprised at how poorly we have handled the pressure and how poorly we have taken care of the basketball. Being caught up in the air with the ball doesn't have anything to do with pressure...that is simply bad decision making and being out of control with the ball. And, I have to agree with PURP...not sure we are ready for the MVC schedule either with this group.

1-9 on threes
not scoring for something like 7 minutes (25-3 Illinois run)
outrebounded 24-13
15 turnovers in one half
18-3 for Illinois on turnovers
No wonder we are losing by 31 at the half

I have 2 things to say.
1. Illinois will be better than 13 in the big ten.
2. Score would be about the same if Marty we're still coaching and we wouldn't have the recruits.
I'm on board

The worst thing I’ve heard all night is that Kuhlman continues to pump fake on open threes and passes them up. It’s hard to get that “looking over my shoulder because if I miss, I’ll get benched” mentality out of his head.

The second half was better but Evansville loses 99-60.

That 25-3 run by Illinois mid to late 1st half is what did us in.
I say we put this on behind us. Try to survive at Xavier on Saturday afternoon. Learn from these games and try to stay injury free and then let's see if these games help us out down the road.

This was brutal tonight, and it might be equally brutal at Xavier on Saturday. But Walter is starting from zero here. As I've posted before, I really don't care about the record this season -- I care about building a foundation for future success that Simmons never even tried to build in the first place. And that includes tough games on the non-conference schedule and taking our beatings before Valley play begins. It means fan enthusiasm. It means having more reach on the radio and doing a better job of promoting the program regionally. And it means establishing a more up-tempo style of play, which is going to be a better fit for the kids we have coming next year.

Let's keep our eye on the prize. This program needs our support in both good times and bad. Walter is the right guy for this job at the right time, and that will eventually yield some happier nights in the future.

Hopefully this game will show Walt what kind of players he needs in his system

Walter knows the kind of players he needs, but everyone can see the previous staff didn’t recruit/get those kinds of guys. This staff needs to land a couple great recruits this recruiting cycle and maybe even another D1 transfer to build this program.
