Lance Wilkerson's Tweet

Postby stennisrm72 » Sun Oct 21, 2018 6:50 pm

Lance tweeted on Friday that it was an exciting day on campus. Someone asked about details andhe obviously couldn't answer due to NCAA regulations. Anybody have some insight? I haven't seen anything else.

On Friday PurpleRain posted on another thread (on this site) the following (which I am guessing is related):

Obviously the staff can’t talk about recruits until everything is signed and sealed but I heard on Thursday that we do indeed have a commitment from another great young man.

Anything more would be speculation on my part; but obviously it did follow the HoopFest event. I can't wait to find out in the near future.

Very wild guess ... could 6'9 F/C Demontay Dixon (2019) be the one Lance is excited about?

Demontay attends Walters State Junior College in Tennessee. He had an unofficial visit at MTSU last week. Supposedly Arkansas is also recruiting him. He was originally planning to join Illinois State, but decided not to.

Then again, it could be Desean Eikens, Michael Moreno, or Elijah Height who have joined us ... who knows!

We definitely need 1 or 2 big men.Especially if Becker
could be done for ever. And that's going off someone
else's post on his chronic knee pain.

Dixon is enrolled at Walters State, but it appears he hasn't played any games. How does that affect his eligibility for next year/ how many years would he have if he were to commit? It's unusual that a guy goes to a junior college and leaves before the season starts so I am curious.

I am betting one of the recruits attending the Hoops Fest decided to commit. I will do back flips if Desean Elkins signs.

Usually a commit makes it known, I think it is something with getting someone eligible idk.

Honestly, I wish they would just not say anything or wait until they have official confirmation before saying anything. Usually when things get built up like this they end up being a major let down when you find out what it actually is.

Let's hope that isn't the case here.
8-19 .....1986
16-12 ....1987 --- MCC Champ
21-8 .....1988 --- NIT
25-6 .....1989 --- NCAA
Key point, be patient, never judge a coach on Year 1!

I have given up trying to decipher these “cryptic” tweets a long time ago. I see it as nothing more than a troll to try to “build up excitement.” Thing is, while NCAA rules prohibit a university to talk about incoming recruits until they have signed their LOI, or enrolled for classes, there is nothing against announcing that a player has verbally committed.

Truth is, they can announce that player X has given a verbal commitment without talking about them, and they have done nothing wrong.

Lastly, why would they have even announced that DeAndre was ineligible for the season if the appeal was ongoing, only to announce a couple of weeks later that he is eligible again.

Unfortunately, this tweet has the feel of the boy who cried wolf.
TIME TO GET IT RIGHT
