Since I was only 4 points off the total points, two others were only 1 off, it went pretty much as I thought it would. Since Dainius was my player of the game I guess we sure as hell are going to miss him in the first three games. They started of kind of tentative, but warmed up as the first half went on, and I thought played very well. Rebounding will be a problem all year, and it was in this game as well. Free throw shooting needs to be better, as that , and three pointers will keep us in games. I thought Hill, Hall, and Frederking looked like they were ready to play, and played well. Shea never really did get untracked, but finally hit a couple of threes toward the end of the game. A good win against a decent DII team. I think we will be a hard out for most Valley teams.

What we learned from our first look at a Walter McCarty coached Evansville basketball team

The Aces open the regular season Thursday at Illinois. But here’s what we learned about a team that most expect will finish near the bottom of the Missouri Valley Conference:

    It's all about tempo
    Defensive intensity was good
    They’ll need the big Lithuanian
    Rebounding is a concern
    Balanced scoring attack

Great team effort, from what I've gathered, from posted comments, the video highlights I've watched, box score, & The CP article.
Observations, from the above...
Everyone was looking towards the basket to score or down the floor to move the ball, instead of their spot on the floor or the assigned screening lanes.
Coach looked good, in the tailored dark suit and purple tie.
DC, dropping that Three.
Jaw Dropper
Who was the last #5 position player to fire up a three?
Perhaps, David Howard his Freshman year?
Was hoping for new uniforms, to kick off The McCarty era

Few quick questions.....
Larger Student involvement?
Could hear "Hail to Evansville", being played. But couldn't see on vids, was the band there?
Did The ACES continue The FC walk around, high fiving and thanking faithful?
Were there any other (Crews era) ACES players there for Craig Snow's return?
Anyone notice any of former Coach Simmons players, in attendance?

Art was sitting next to deandre all night, Boo and Sergio were courtside, also we believe Antoine walker was talking to Boo and Sergio.
Team did the walk around after the game.

What was the attendance? It looked like we were close to 4K.

They were tight to start with otherwise good to see the minutes spread out to all. Great to see 7 guys hit a 3.
DC was a beast! I don’t know how we’re gonna compete the next two games without him

Last season Dalen Traore was credited with a 3Pt attempt in the SUNY-Binghamton game. I don't really have a recollection of that play.

Howard had a couple of 3PT attempt in his box scores. UC Irvine out in California, his Jr. year - that was a game I didn't watch. David Howard also had a 3Pt attempt as a freshman at Hulman Center. I think the one at Hulman was a half-court heave at the end of the game/half.

I think the last Aces center to make a 3ptr was Sawvell in 2013 against Creighton. He also missed one at Notre Dame.

Iggy, Sergej, and Jaylon Moore never made a 3pt attempt.

There's your summary of each 3pt attempt by an Aces center in the last 5 seasons. Actually longer than I expected.

I definitely saw Marcus Wilson. He was with maybe Stuart Stanton.

One other thing I’ll add, the intro video was a million times better this year than about any that I remember. They played music with some character that didn’t sound like trash and the editing was very well done.

The song they played was “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins
8-19 .....1986
16-12 ....1987 --- MCC Champ
21-8 .....1988 --- NIT
25-6 .....1989 --- NCAA
Key point, be patient, never judge a coach on Year 1!
