Game Thread: Aces at Miami (Ohio)

Postby pafan » Sat Dec 29, 2018 1:27 pm

The non-con wraps up Sunday afternoon at Miami (the cold one), 7-5 on the season. The RedHawks got destroyed by Xavier by 27. Prepare for long-range shots - the RedHawks are in the top 20 in 3PT attempts in all of D1.

12pm CT tip.

It would be great to notch a road win before conference play.

Agree with the need for a road win. Wish this game was at home and the return game next year was the road game. But since it's not at home, it's time to go get one. Students should still be gone, small crowd, so a good chance to win what on paper looks to be a game between two even teams.
Let's hope Mekhi Lairy doesn't go off against his hometown team. You just know he'll have a little extra incentive.

Miami, is more of a football attended event school.
RedHawk Hockey out draws basketball, almost three to one.
No one has cared about basketball in Oxford, since the "Wallyball" days.
Millett, is poorly lit. Sorta like playing in a cave.
Don't think even if this game was held with students on campus, it would draw more than 1,3OO
No home court advantage (barring officials) to worry about tomorrow.
Lairy's averaging around six a game, in 16 minutes.
But, I'm sure he has special incentive tomorrow.
Last "Evansville connection" The ACES faced was Eaves and his three at first half buzzer, that was the difference maker in that one.

go aces
I'm on Board!

Should be a good road test. Miami is NET ranked about 20 spots higher than UE, but that means nothing because Miami hasn't beaten anyone of note yet this year. Hopeful that the team will air it out a little, play good defense, but not put too much pressure on themselves. Yes, expect the building to be raining 3 pt. shots. I hope ours fall, and theirs don't. Go ACES!

Line moves to =7, I believe they will beat the spread, hopefully the offense is on enough to cover the spread and then some.
Go Aces!

I am not saying Miami doesn't have talent, but I can't see any logical ranking that gives them that much of an edge. Looking over their record, I don't believe they have beaten anyone with a winning record, and we played the one mutual opponent much closer. I understand the home court advantage, but the students are gone, and Oxford doesn't exactly have much in the way of local population.

Like the Aces defense, offense not so much.
