Game Thread: Aces at Valpo

Postby pafan » Sat Mar 02, 2019 7:30 am

Today, 1pm
The ARC, Valparaiso Indiana

Radio: WJPS 107.1, 106.7 in Mt. Vernon, 92.1 in Carmi, 97.7 in Vincennes
TV/Streaming: ESPN+

Well, it comes down to this. A fairly meaningless game in the standings. The Aces will be the #10 seed, and Valpo will be either the #8 or #9.

Exactly one month ago, Valpo lost to the Aces at Ford Center by 11, so we definitely know it can be done.

I would just tell the guys to have fun in this one, Start the seniors, including Chestnut and then Straub too. They work hard on practice all year. Try to buckle down again on Thursday. Today's game is as meaningless as it gets.

I am not sure about meaningless...it's a conference game, and a chance to get some momentum going into St. Louis. As well, it's been 30 years since we lost a game to Valpo. It would be nice to keep that streak going for at least another year and finish the regular season off on a high note. Of course, last year we blasted SIU in our last game, and we saw how well that carried over into St. Louis. Valpo looked awful against Bradley on Wednesday night, which means they will probably look like Duke today.

Apparently, the C&P isn't giving much concern to this as they are sending Pat Hickey off to cover a high school game.

The Aces did lose at Valpo in Marty Simmons' first season as UE coach. That was the Aces' only trip there between the early '90s and last year. That is Valpo's only win over Evansville since 1987.

Ooops, I don't know where I got that, unless I was thinking they haven't won here in that long.

Just announced he was dismissed from team for violation of team standards. Done for the year.

ESPN+ problems again
If they want to charge for this they need to get their Schnit together.
