Yarborough arrested again

Postby Ad1770 » Thu May 10, 2018 10:53 am

For the third time in less than two years, we get to hear of this guy getting arrested again. Of course, per the “leadership” at Normal State Penetentiary, “We know of the situation and are handling it internally”, meaning that they will do nothing on this. I predict no time lost for Yarborough, and definitely no dismissal.

This is a pretty sad state of affairs, and a black eye for the school, but hey, I guess you really do have to get players with “character risks” when UE has been to the big dance more recently than you.

Here's the full story and the wonderful quote from ole' Danny Boy himself.
8-19 .....1986
16-12 ....1987 --- MCC Champ
21-8 .....1988 --- NIT
25-6 .....1989 --- NCAA
Key point, be patient, never judge a coach on Year 1!

I don't feel, based on what I read in the article, it warrants a dismissal. He certainly should have walked away when he got the phone back instead of shoving her. There are two wrongs in this story. I wouldn't be surprised if the charges are dismissed.

I agree that after more of the story came out, does not warrant a dismissal to me either. MY certainly has a temper and has some growing up to do. He should have walked away, but some of the comments on other boards that "he threw her down the stairs" are just flat not true.

One other thing to keep in mind, and this is not intended to be an excuse, but the police in Normal are unlike anyplace I've ever lived (sort of AbNormal. :D ). For some reason they look for any reason to hassle the students, not just the athletes. I know many instances of charges against students In most other jurisdictions, my guess is that this would have just been a "walk away from each other and don't do it again" sort of offense.

Quote from ISUr coach about MY after the Belmont game. He played 4 minutes in the 2nd half.

He just doesn't compete and he's not coachable. That happened last year a bunch of times. I'll do it again,” said Muller of benching Yarbrough for long stretches.

Belmont actually started 3 freshman against the veteran ISU-red team. For Coach Mueller to say the things he did about Yarborough to the media says volumes about Yarborough. Not the kind of start that Rebird fans had hoped for.
