He did turn down offers from more than just UE right........
Hope recruits don’t look here for insight into the program.

How many division 1 programs that you know who have had their coach entrenched into their program for over ten years and not have a single verbal commit.? 2 of the last three signings did not have one other single d 1 offer.
I don't think other potential recruits are looking into this forum for any insights....but they sure aren't attracted by what Evansville is offering. Yes, this program isn't the easiest sell but it's a hell of lot better than what we have been experiencing.

Here are the 2018 Commits for each school in bold:

Bradley - 0 - 2 Seniors
Drake - 5 - 5 Seniors
Ill. State - 2 - 1 Senior (1 over right now)
Ind State - 2 + Neese - 4 Seniors
Loyola - 3 - 4 Seniors
Missouri State - 4 - 5 Seniors
Northern Iowa - 1 - 4 Seniors
SIU - 2 - 3 Seniors
Valpo - 1 - 2 Seniors
Evansville - 0 - 4 Seniors + 1 Open = 5

They have three weeks to fix this...will try to remain hopeful something will happen.

Wow Tom those numbers don't lie.

Optimist View - I am hopeful that whomever UE names as the next President is a student of what Butler and Gonzaga have accomplished by emphasizing Basketball as a tool to grow the school.

Pessimist View - UE names a totally Academic driven President and USI goes D1 in the OVC and we become second fiddle even in Evansville.

Thanks Tom. But as a side note and as I stated earlier, Marty has been at Evanville for over 10 years. I would expect recruiting ties to be a little stronger.

Absolutely agree! A tenth year coach shouldn't be scrambling to recruit like this. Especially given the fact that he used to not have this much trouble doing it. I could give a listing of players we have recruited who had other MVC or at least other halfway decent mid-major looks before 2016.

Kaylon Williams
Denver Holmes
Colt Ryan
Sawvell
DJ Balentine
Mislav Brzoja
Adam Wing
Jaylon Brown
Dru Smith

I also agree with UE0958...there's two directions it can go with the president. Hopefully they choose the 1st direction given the success those schools have had using that model. The model that is being used now obviously isn't working. Men's basketball can save the school if they decide to make it a priority. It's the number one way to increase enrollment and increase exposure. It will take some risks, but guys without risks there are no rewards.

I don't know how much of a factor it may be, but the fact that Marty interviewed at Wright State and may be on thin ice doesn't do anything to help recruiting.

That's why a coaching change should have occurred last year. Coach on hot seat expecting a not so great season, declining attendance, and negative recruiting pointing those things out are not a good trio for landing great recruits.
