Looking at his game logs this guy is an insane shot blocker. Routinely gets at least 5 blocks. Also racks up a lot of fouls. 6'11 with three years of eligibility? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

He is raw but you can't teach 6"10 with athletic ability. Needs to improve footwork and free throw shooting and then could be a very good player. Lots of playing time awaiting him in Evansville if he is will g to put in the work.

Looks like he verbally committed to Canisius a couple of years ago.

But then ultimately signed with Delaware State.

I think he means that's a God given gift (6'10 with athletic ability). You can't teach a 6'7 guy to be 6'11. It's certainly easier to coach 6'11 guys.

The coaches have done a good job with DC so far, so this is a very intriguing prospect. They've kept things very simple, and that's the best approach to take with big guys. Rebound, defend, screen, catch, and dunk. If they can do those things, that's huge.
Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.

Thanks for clarifying Tom. Just back from Mexico and looks like a lot has happened since then.

From December 2013: http://www.nycbasketball.com/xn/detail/2827673:BlogPost:119905

Saw Jeffrey Otchere play last night against Evander. Never saw a guy block shots in a high school game like that. He swatted shots with ease. Spoke today with some knowledgable people that were at the game, to see if I was over rating the kid. Everyone I spoke to was amazed. The kid is at least 6'8" with very long arms and great timing for blocking shots.

Needs a lot of polishing on offense and needs to get his weight up, but he catches the ball really well and was excellent in the middle of their press break.

Only a junior, Otchere has a chance to develop into the best big man from the Bronx East since Ed Pinckney of Stevenson.
