My take would be take the 2 bigs DC needs help and one would help and free a scholly for next year . We need big men in the 19-20 Season. Both look to be a good add. The kid from USF is a bigger risk and would be here 2yrs

Agau #1. Athletic, one-year commitment, something to prove, could dominate in the MVC, a great compliment to DeAndre Williams, tough, would get Walter's insight to position for the next level, would get lots of minutes at UE, vs. Less certainty at other potential landing spots like UL, for instance.
Dastrup #2. I like him. Not many 6-10 guys with his skills. Walter would be great for him too. Sitting out a year just positions us better for 2019-20. He would also thrive in MVC. Reminds me of the kind of BIG recruited by Butler. Size, but also mobile.
Holston #3. Good shooter, but injuries ?? Still might be worth a scholly and can play right away.

Well, it's not hard to see why Walter is looking at these three players. Agau is certainly the best of the three. He could certainly take us to the next level, and I don't think we would be a Thursday team with him in the lineup. From the films it looks like he can do it all. Shoot, defend, rebound, assist, and be a power player the likes we haven't seen in a long time. If Walter could land this guy, expectations would be sky high for this season.

I have to applaud the efforts of coach McCarty for relentlessly going after any player he feels can help the program. He has done everything he said he would do from hiring impact assistant coaches to recruiting great players to selling tickets.

Troy Holston is coming in for a visit, herd this from a current player. Holston would be a solid player for us if we get him.

I think Troy would fit well on the wing, I'm just a little worried. In two seasons at USF his splits were 33.7 fg and 31.3 from 3. Well over half of his shots were from 3, but those percentages and injuries worry me a bit. Regardless, checking his HS video he was a great athlete and obviously can hit the 3. Could also give us two years of eligibility since he only played two seasons at USF.

Worried about Troy - he’s had at least 2 knee injuries and surgeries. These have caused him to redshirt and lose most of another season. Unfortunately, I think I’d pass on him since he would take a spot for 2 seasons.

I’d go for either big and be happy. If neither come, then bank the scholarship.

Agree all the way.

I have no problem with Troy’s knee injury. Scott Shreffler is an example of that among others. Baseball players come back from Tommy John surgeries stronger than ever all the time.

What I do like is that out of HS he was a 3-Star with many offers from high major D-1 programs. Outside of his injury year he averaged almost 30 minutes per game which shows me he has game and he has a beautiful jumper out to the NBA 3-point line. He’s played in a tough conference and has the court experience we need to rebuild our program.

Bottom line, Walter is not going to give away his final scholarship and if he wants Troy then I’m all for it.
