Not so sure about this philosophy. Suppose all of these "high level players" say no and still has open scholarships in 3 weeks. Then suddenly McCarty is branded as an unsuccessful recruiter.
Not predicting that will happen, but there are long term risks in play.
There is a reason that coaches extend offers to at least double if not more than the scholarships available. Because they are willing to take that risk. Glad to see Coach is going after these kids, but that doesn’t mean those are all he goes after. A door that you don’t knock on is a door that doesn’t get answered.
I praise the staff 100% for this. It's like when your in college you ask out ten great looking girls, suffer through some rejection knowing you just have to land ONE . If Walt and team do not ask, they will never get a 3 or 4 star recruit or any other player they think may fit in. So, keep it up, remember you don't have to land them all, just one here and one there.
