I think your points are all well taken and don't wish to "beat a dead horse. Prohm & Iowa State are pretty much a "lock" on this kid anyway, as he's an Ames,IA native and according to his ORU bio, is "close" to his family...

Wooden oversaw a dirty program at UCLA.
UCLA, in those years, didn't have a salary cap.
He turned his back to it and even commented on Sam Gilbert (the off campus money man at UCLA) in1981.
A direct quote of Gilbert's actions during UCLA's run by Wooden......"There's as much crookedness as you want to find. There was something Abraham Lincoln said — he'd rather trust and be disappointed than distrust and be miserable all the time. Maybe I trusted too much."

Guess that's the formula you're referring to?

Iowa State signed transfer Prentiss Nixon from Colorado State with their 1 remaining spot. They are done for 2018. Although he was local, I think White was more of a plan D or E transfer here in Ames.

LOL - and you think these program perks DON'T exist today? You need to get out of your "box"...

For all the "Wooden Bashers," in '64 and '65 he won consecutive national championships with undersized teams starting nobody taller than 6'6", in '70 and '71 he won consecutive national championships starting 6'8" white stiff Steve Patterson at center, and of course in his final year, '75 he won it yet again. That's FIVE national championships that did not involve either Jabbar or Walton, I'd say that's pretty damn good isn't it?

Some of these attempts to discredit Wooden get a little silly. Like it or not, the guy was always one helluva coach. And, fwiw, he already had at least three national titles in the bag before Sam Gilbert first started sniffing around his players in the Spring/summer of '67.

According to this article, Nixon is a "sit one, play one," eligibility-wise.

Looks like Brad Brownell has his eyes on White...

Also, the article clearly spells out that he has TWO (2) years remaining...

The NCAA, in recognition of his factor, have loosened their TRANSFER rules over the yrs., thus allowing student-athletes an opportunity for a BETTER match. This especially is true when coaching changes occur.

As far as the "complicated" factor, if anyone knew the precise formula, Johny Wooden's long-held record for consecutive NCAA Championships would not seem out of reach, would it?

I didn't say that all D-1 transfers are disgruntled but I cannot imagine that many transfer because they are happy with their situation and fully gruntled. And, no surprise, you are still vague about the complicated factor that escapes all but apparently you. I can tell you what isn't complicated to me. If a coach is interested in a transfer that would add to the roster in a positive manner he is wise to offer that transfer. A P5 transfer has as many as 350 D1 schools to choose from. He will never choose the one that didn't bother to offer. With the loosening transfer rules, Coach McCarty should on a case by case basis make offers to student-athletes looking for a BETTER match even if that transfer is from a P5 school. McCarty should not be ashamed of or shy about touting UE's standing as a well respected institution with high academic standards.

I don't know why that bothers you or why you believe Aces fans are overly confident that UE can land P5 transfers. We are realists but not defeatists. BTW, not every NBA player is from a P5 school (about 70 aren't). And not every P5 player makes it to the NBA (only a fraction do). I'd venture to say that most non-P5 NBA players could have chosen P5 schools but felt their interests were better served at a smaller and/or less glamorous college.

Can ya believe that UMASS, Nevada, Clemson & LSU are all chasing a "Plan D or E" transfer?

My point was that Iowa State was looking at several transfers for their one open roster spot and that there were at least 3 or 4 guys who were higher priorities for them. This was in response to the comment that he was a lock for IA St because he was local. Doesn’t mean White is not a quality D1 player.

With a 50-50 plus chance of CAMERON LARD going NBA in 2019, it'll leave a big void (6'9") in the middle for ISU. With White sitting out THIS yr. and having 2 yrs. remaining, it would've been perfect timing.
