Don’t preferred walk-ons tend to come with an understanding that they’ll be offered a scholarship a year later, as long as they fit the system, make a contribution, and do well academically?

I'm not going to respond to him anymore, he shows his basketball IQ every time he post, I think it's about the same as my shoe size.

I hope you enjoy your island, because nobody shares your thoughts on this player, I think what the coaches and most on this forum see is a few things. 1. He only has one year. 2. He is a shooter, never heard anybody say he was the next coming of John Stockton. 3.Our new coaching staff has several years of evaluating talent of which you have none.

I see that you became a "fan" in '89? The term readily applied to people like you is "rookie." The fact is, you don't know DIDDLY re: my ability to analyze talent. I provided statistical FACTS associated w/ the three (3) game on Feehan's "highlight video." Then a few of you throw in a mix of a million to one hogwash re: an I-M player @ Marshall.

Ya, Feehan MIGHT pan out for a year, but what are the odds? Is UE so hard up that they've gotta take such a gamble? Ever heard of a "preferred walk-on?"

So he has D1 offers from two places far, far away in Rhode Island (Bryant University) and New York (Manhattan University).
Drake and Evansville he visited as well and both are in the vicinity of 4 hours away from his home town of Peoria, Illinois. But to my knowledge Drake has not offered him.

So from a geography point of view it seems like a no brainer to take Walter's offer if he wants to play DI ball.
Note: He is playing at Eureka College now which is 25 minutes from Peoria.

Now this does not factor in what type of graduate program that he is interested in and how comfortable he felt on visits at each location. But on the surface I would think that Evansville's chances are pretty good on landing Shea for next year.

I should note that he has an offer from DII Lewis University as well which is only a couple of hours away from Peoria, but again that is DII.

Hopefully we will hear something soon. With only four days left till the signing deadline on Wednesday (5/16) we should hear something on two or three of these kids in the next couple of days (unless there is a holdup because of SAT scores or the like).

Go Aces!!!

My bet is that Feehan's on board. I don't see that Becker has a Wisconsin offer, which could bode well for us. I really like Berrick, and I hope the visit to NMSU broadens his view beyond FGCU, where he will have to compete pretty hard for minutes. At UE, he can be a star! Silva continues to be a puzzle, at least thru what I can see. Does anyone know of other potentials?

Shea had been quite busy putting many miles on his car visiting different schools. He now has three D-1 offers: Manhatten, Bryant, and Evansville. He made unofficial visits to Drake and Oakland. Hasn't tweeted anything which makes me feel he is not favoring one over the other. Evansville is an obvious choice if he wants to stay close to home, but the fact that he drove to New York and Detroit makes me believe that is not a factor.

I believe he is scrambling at this point. Time is getting short as scholarships are being filled. Maybe due to recent commitments the UE offer has cooled a little. It’s a game of musical chairs right now.

I don’t think anyone has committed since we offered Shea a scholarship.

I don’t like the silence of the three guys we know we’ve offered. We can’t go into the season with only 10 scholarship players.
