Well, back on campus and charging $5 for adults? Both a mistake in my opinion. No big deal but Interested in others thoughts.

The only way to get Hoopfest back at the FC is more butts in the seats during the season. Not a fan for the $5 charge but i pay $3 to see a high school JV soccer game. That's world we live in now.

Two years ago hoopfest was at Meeks, to ring in the renovation, but it was packed and uncomfortable. After a large avg attendance increase and hype about the upcoming season its going back there. Season ticket holders (and I am one), can reserve seats which tells me some showing up that night will not find a seat. Just picturing family of four with kids looking forward to posters, autographs being shut out. Just hope it works out fine and I'm wrong..

I know it costs $$s to rent Ford, but if I'm a recruit, I'd rather showcase in a large, packed venue, not Meeks. Make it free to expose Everyone In EVV who is interested in D1 basketball. After all, this is how you kick off your season. First time many will get to witness the athleticism of Art, Sam, and DeAndre. Maybe UE is saving their dry powder for the USI game. On the other hand, the Ath. Dept. may just not have an interest in making Hoopfest an EVENT. We have some talent, a very respectable schedule, and a notable coach, yet to me, the effort to generate enthusiasm for the Aces seems a little tentative.

I spoke with the athletic department yesterday to express my disappointment in Hoopfest this year. I mentioned that the fact that this isn't conducive for community involvement. The person I spoke with said it was a scheduling conflict with the FC. Would it not be better to change the date? Or is it the FC wants too much($) for a night with the Aces?

I just checked the Ford Center website and it doesn't show any events on August 29th.

Pretty simple. They don't want to spend the $$s. I'm not sure how you can intro this year's team enthusiastically at what is essentially a HS gym, but maybe they can. It was Ok for the McCarty introduction, and maybe the trend for D1 schools is to tone down the midnight madness stuff, etc. However, if you're going to try to attract a big crowd, you don't put your "Hoopfest" in a venue that can only hold what, 1500 people. Guess they thought the $5 might match the turnout to the size of the venue. Do season tic holders get in free?

They didn't have anywhere close to 1500 at the Ford last season, and did not charge admission.
